All surf sunglasses should have a hydrophobic lens coating. Clean hydrophobic coated lenses repel water impressively well. After submerging the glasses, clean hydrophobic lenses will be left with no more than a few tiny unobtrusive water droplets.Ventilation is important to keep your glasses from fogging, especially in cold water. Ventilation is less important for wind sports but more important for sports like surfing where the glasses frequently become submerged. For surfing waters below 68 degrees I always recommend the Mormaii Floaters or the Spex specifically because of the increased ventilation.
Safety
Surf sunglasses must have 100% UV protection. Polarization is optional.
If you are using surf sunglasses for an activity where your face may forcefully impact the water (surfing, kite surfing, etc..) it is important that your surf sunglasses have anti-impact protection. All of our glasses have shatterproof lenses and good to excellent anti-impact protection unless otherwise noted. Never wear sunglasses for water sports if they rest entirely on your nose bridge!Loss Prevention
